Maker

Cacaosuyo

Cacaosuyo is a "tree to bar" Peruvian chocolate maker with 100% traceability. They pay careful attention to the cacao they use at all stages from harvest, fermentation to the processing of cacao to make the best possible chocolate. Cacaosuyo is so particular about their beans to ensure the best quality that their beans are brought to dedicated labs for analysis. The cacao beans are classified by each and every strain, to detect new flavor profiles and discovering rare varieties. This is a crucial step because this allows rare varieties to become protected which would have otherwise been lost.   Owned by Eduardo Lanfranco and Samir Giha, they craft their chocolate in Lima, Peru using only Peruvian chocolate.

Cacaosuyo Lakuna 70%

This bar gave me absolute faith in the good people of Bar & Cocoa, as well as God. Kidding about the God part, but this bar is truly divine. The first one I was sent had a tiny sliver of metal in it which tried to impale my soft palate - not sure why the bar was weaponized, but I told my tale of woe to the customer service people and was immediately provided with a clone of the traitorous bar and a few mini bars for my pain. They arrived healthy and whole and incredibly soon after my plea to the lovely people of this site. But back to this magical bar - the flavor is aromatic and complex - red wine, citrus, hazelnut and something magical like wood after rain. The bar is velvety and completely deserving of the International Chocolate Award Gold medal displayed on the luxurious little box. I highly recommend it and also this website to all my friends. Stars above and beyond for both!

Fantastic

The snap on this bar wasn't the best, but the texture and flavor were incredible. It was smoother than most dark chocolates, and we all tasted bright bursts of berries. Would definitely recommend!

Red wine flavor

I was trying different brands of chocolate, and this brand is beyond my expectation. This 70% chocolate has a unique flavor of red wine. If you ever tried Glico Pejoy Biscuit Sticks (Red Wine & Chocolate Flavor), you would immediately understand what I mean. Definitely worth trying.

red wine & floral

Definitely tastes like red wine and floral notes. I liked the Piura Select better. Love Cacaosuyo’s thick fudgy texture.

Delightful

I'm picky with my five star ratings but this one is really close. Everyone has unique taste preferences and mine lean heavily towards Peruvian chocolate. Simply put this bar is delicious. You will love it.
