Light, orangey brown color with a soft, gooey mouthfeel. Looks more like a milk chocolate and has a similar mouthfeel. The main flavor I get is of floral honey
This bar is made with a unique variety of cacao called Catongo which is lower in compounds that often give cacao a dark color and some bitter flavor. While I didn't love this bar on the basis on flavor alone, it certainly wasn't unpleasant - notes of raisin, dried fig, and cookies, with very little bitterness and astringency. The texture was quite soft and overall the bar is very sweet. The really striking this is the light color - it's 70%, but looks like a reddish milk chocolate! I always like trying different varieties and origins, so I would recommend this bar if you eat a lot of craft chocolate and want to try something different.

Collection description: The Lajedo Do Ouro Estate is a family-owned estate, operated by the third generation of the Magalhães family in the coastal region of Bahia, Brazil. Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Atlantic Forest, the farm is maintained in the traditional Brazilian approach of cabruca. This is a sustainable growing system in which cacao— which is native to Brazil— is raised under the protection of at least 40 other native trees & types of vegetation. The Magalhães family's cacao has been domestically- and internationally-awarded for its high quality and unique flavor profile, which they attribute to careful raising & processing of their native cacao varietals.
