This delicious chocolate bar is made exclusively with beans from the province of Lam Dong, Vietnam. The taste starts with a hint of red berries and an intense chocolate flavor. Rich and very enjoyable.

Maker

Belvie Chocolate

Based in Vietnam, Belvie Chocolate is a bean to bar maker that handcrafts their chocolate bars with Belgian techniques. They source cacao from all over Vietnam, then stone grind and produce their chocolate in small batches. Their award winning chocolate also contributes to the preservation of cacao trees in Vietnam. They take the husks of the cacao as fertilizer for the trees to help maintain a green environment. Belvie uses Trinitario cacao beans only from local farmers to help restore cacao trees throughout Vietnam and mostly importantly, to help support the farmers.

Cacao Region

Lam Dong, Vietnam

Lam Dong is a province located in the Western Highlands region of Vietnam, unique from the Southern Vietnamese due to their unique accent, large indigenous population, and varying alliances during the Civil War. The provincial capital of Đà Lạt is now a rather famous coffee origin, as well as a large tourist destination during the warmer months. Lam Dong's economy is based largely on agriculture, with tea, coffee and vegetables being the main agricultural products; cacao is a very small part of the region's output due to the mountainous terrain.

flavorful

Great flavorful bar! The strong flavor hits you right away, bold with blackcurrant and woody notes. Fades to a pleasantly tannic aftertaste.
Edit: This has become one of my all-time favorite bars.

Belvie Lam Dong 70%

Strong and sexy tobacco aroma. Flavors of lush berries, tea, cream, subtle mushroom and a hint of raisin are well layered and take polite turns showing off. Beautiful silky texture too. Love this bar.

How on earth this chocolate bar can smell tabacco like that!

This chocolate smell so good! it smell a lot like fine blond tabacco, or an earthy tea dark red tea.
Taste is more on the tea aspect.
Great quality!
