So many flavors bombard the tongue with this bar, and the flavors are great, but the intensity of all those flavors is a touch overwhelming. The chocolate is muted compared to the the pineapple, coconut, and rum. I do like the bar, and really did enjoy eating it, but I can't say I savored it as much as I would a good chocolate bar. It really is akin to a high end candy bar. Better than most of the candy bars out there, and you can't plow through it like one would a standard candy bar, but still a candy bar. If you're new to tasting chocolate, this one might rate higher for you.

Before ‘craft bean to bar’ chocolate was an actual term used by many, they were selling their chocolate at music festivals from a hand crafted solar powered tent. Chocolate Tree strives to protect the biodiversity of each cacao heirloom they work with by visiting each of the farms and connecting with those who they work with. Their process is very meticulously from each step to ensure high quality chocolate that as granted them multiple awards for their chocolate bars.

Collection description: Maya Mountain is arguably one of the most established cacao origins in the world, having been one of the first to very clearly establish its own brand. Started in 2010, MMC put Belizian cacao on the map, as a pioneer in the centralized fermentery social enterprise model. What that boils down to is 350+ farming families in southern Belize selling their wet cacao beans to the MMC team at a transparent premium. Most of these families are Q’eqchi’ and Mopan Maya and have been producing cacao for generations. In 2014, the origin was even awarded an Heirloom Cacao Preservation (HCP) designation, and its versatile and rich flavors attest to the deservedness of that honor. All Maya Mountain Cacao beans are certified organic.
