Aroma profile: Red berries (blueberries, currants, strawberries) and plums. Notes of licorice and molasses. Chuao is a small village in the northern coastal area of Venezuela, founded in the 16th century. The village is famous for its cocoa plantations, the men of the Diablos danzantes (dancing devils) and the women of the San Juaneras (group taking care of the town church). Criollo and hybrid cocoa varieties have been grown on the Chuao plantations for over 400 years. Chuao beans are of very high quality and are considered one of the highest quality beans in the world. Only 20 tons of cocoa are available annually.
