Direct-Source Cacao

Direct Sourced

The cocoa is grown in true harmony with nature by the Arhuaco people in Colombia. Transported from Santa Marta to Falmouth on board De Gallant via sail power alone. Turned into chocolate using antique machinery and renewable power before being packaged completely plastic-free! Tasting notes: Early sweet toasted bran turning to a mixed citrus burst

Cacao Region

Arauca, Colombia

With the exception of the westernmost region, most of Arauca state is comprised of plains, whose soil has shown to be good conditions for growing cacao, banana, cassava, rice, corn, and various other fruits. However, the main economic activity of Arauca is centered around the oil industry, with the state’s Caño Limón oil fields being the second-largest in the country. The name Arauca is believed to derive from the name of the Indigenous Arawak (Arhuaco in Spanish) people, whose descendants still inhabit several regions across Colombia, including much of Arauca state.
