Every week, the staff at Gylly Beach Café squeeze gallons of fresh juice leaving the best bit: the peel! After months of experimenting, we innovated a way to turn the peel into a bright orange chocolate that carries a light and buttery-smooth citrus flavor. Combined with Chocolarder's Gola dark chocolate, the two compliment each other perfectly to create a chocolate orange experience unlike any you’ve ever tasted.

Chocolarder is a small batch chocolate maker in Cornwall, UK. The founder Mike Longman, a former pastry chef has made award winning single origin bars since 2012. Chocolarder believes in the ‘ethical transparency’, which starts right at bean to bar. Longman ensures to build meaningful relationships with the farmers with the direct trade model to make sure farmers are being recognized for their hard work. Chocolarder picks only the finest beans to be produced into the chocolate bars. Chocolarder also believes that less is more with ingredients providing a top quality organic experience with health benefits as well.

Gola Rainforest, Sierra Leone

Only declared to be a national park at the end of 2010, the Gola Rainforest is Sierra Leone’s largest swath of rainforest, and at one point, was one of the most commercially exploited. Now it’s known as home to hundreds of species of birds, butterflies, and mammals, including a small number of wild elephants. The cacao produced in the area is processed by the Goleagorbu Cocoa Producers Organisation (GCPO), an umbrella association of nearly 2000 cocoa farmers who live in the forest edge communities surrounding the Park.

not what I expected

This "smooth orange peel" is made in a most unusual way - there is a large orange disc in the center of the bar, about 2/3 the thickness of the overall bar, and not mixed with the chocolate. When I break up the bar to eat, the orange pieces separate from the chocolate. The chocolate pieces do not seem to have orange in them. An interesting artistic effect, but it doesn't really make it orange chocolate. For eating, it would be better mixed in at the start; an uneven result in the end.

Needs More Orange

The bar is 80% dark chocolate (and it's good) and 20% orange flavored white chocolate in a circle that only covers ½ the bar, so not every bite includes both flavors. I wish this bar was 50/50 orange/chocolate because the orange part was delicious and had a little tang instead of pure sweetness like other orange bars!
