Direct-Source Cacao

Direct Sourced

Triangle's favorite cacao bean, the sweet, subtle flavor of blueberry and the soft, springy floral notes make way to a touch of vanilla. One bite is never enough.

Produits Des Iles SA (PISA) launched their processing facility in 2014 making a revolutionary change in the way the cacao industry worked in Haiti by offering the first high quality Haitian cacao to the US market. PISA partners with farmers to give them what they really need: pricing transparency, a consistent market and an elimination of risk.

Ingredients: cacao*, cane sugar*, cocoa butter* (*organic) This product is made in a facility with nuts, dairy and wheat.

Triangle Roasters

Triangle Roasters was started by four friends with a background in international development and coffee, and a serious love for chocolate. An upcoming maker out of Philadelpha, PA their chocolate shows their keen skills when it comes to roasting profiles. Also not to be missed is their White Chocolate w/ Nibs + Vanilla which tastes like an adult less sweet version of cookies & cream.

Cacao Estate

Produits Des Iles SA (PISA) is one of the few groups in Haiti working to export single-origin Haitian cacao, a battle they’ve been taking on since their inception in 2012. Prior to PISA’s establishment, basically all Haitian cacao was sold in the commodity market at dirt-cheap prices, despite the fact that neighboring Dominican Republic’s industry was booming. So the group decided to take on the task themselves, buying wet cacao from local farmers and processing it centrally in a northern facility. PISA’s beans are described by importer Uncommon Cacao as the “perfect storm of chocolate, caramelized sugars, and juicy dark berries,” and we couldn’t agree more. While makers’ choices play a large role in the final flavor, these notes are steadfast and hard to ignore. All PISA cacao is certified organic.

🌸 Complex, soft and sweet 🇭🇹

This Pisa Haiti bar was fascinating.

The tasting notes boast vanilla, blueberry and floral on the packaging, but it took my nearly 1/3 of the bar to decide what fruity note I personally detected--notes on packaging are a guide not a rule, since everyone can taste things a little differently.

I could taste blueberry when I moved my tongue across my palate, but I could also taste dried apple slices 🍎 No doubt, I also tasted vanilla (soft like when you smell it in the house after baking), mingling notes of violet and jasmine 🌸, and a brief burst of honey 🍯
