The Lajedo Do Ouro Estate is a family-owned estate, operated by the third generation of the Magalhães family in the coastal region of Bahia, Brazil. Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Atlantic Forest, the farm is maintained in the traditional Brazilian approach of cabruca. This is a sustainable growing system in which cacao— which is native to Brazil— is raised under the protection of at least 40 other native trees & types of vegetation. The Magalhães family's cacao has been domestically- and internationally-awarded for its high quality and unique flavor profile, which they attribute to careful raising & processing of their native cacao varietals.
