When Does My Order Ship?

Store Purchases

We monitor weather and transit time to determine when we can ship, to ensure the chocolate arrives to you safely. If temperatures are too hot we reserve the right to hold your order until it is cooler. During the summer, orders ship on business days Monday through Thursday to prevent melt.

Club Subscribers

Bar & Cocoa subscriptions ship out immediately and then on the same day of the month on the following month, or on the next business day if the day is a weekend or a holiday.

PRE-JULY 2022 SUBSCRIBERS Club boxes ship on the 2nd Monday of each month.

How Do I Track My Order?

Tracking numbers are emailed to you upon shipment. When in doubt, check your email or your store account. If you can't find it, we can resend it to you. You can also use our "Track Your Order" feature.

What Is No Melt Guarantee?

During warmer weather we add an automatic fee to cover the extra cost of shipping (from mid April to September).

Our No Melt Guarantee shields your order from heat damage. Here are the details:

Packaging

We take extra care on your orders to protect them from heat, using ice/insulation and expedited shipping on all orders to prevent melt. Temperature Hold We reserve the right to hold the shipment if the destination temperature exceeds 95°F, ensuring it is not exposed to extreme heat.

Shipping Days

To prevent your chocolates from sitting over the weekend, we do not ship orders on Fridays under this guarantee.

Delivery

This guarantee is void if the package is left outside and not brought indoors on the day of delivery. Any melt issues must be reported within 24 hours of the delivery timestamp, with supporting photos of the product and packaging.

Claims

To file a claim, contact our customer service with the necessary evidence of melt.

Remedy

Approved claims will be eligible for a refund or replacement of the affected items.

Expedited Shipping

We offer Priority shipping, and Fedex 2Day and Fedex Standard Overnight options at checkout.

Fedex 2 Day only applies to business days. e.g. if an order ships on Friday, it will arrive to you on Tuesday.

Refunds on Shipping

Shipping charges for Fedex 2 Day and Overnight can be refunded if the order is delayed. There will be no refunds on Standard or Priority shipping charges for delayed orders, they are not guaranteed.

Returns

Unfortunately, we do not accept returns. Chocolates are not refundable since they are a food item. However, if you are unhappy for any reason, please message us or call (877) 778-8599 and we'll do what we can to make it right.

Refunds

While we make every effort to ensure your chocolate arrives in perfect condition, mailing chocolate in warm weather comes with risk.

If your order contains bloomed or melted chocolate, send us a message with a picture of the bars to within 24 hours of arrival. We will either refund your order, or replace your chocolate (depending on stock), or in the case of a subscription, add a free month.

I Received a Delivery Notification But It's Not Here!

If you received a notification that your order has been "delivered' but cannot find it, please wait 24 hours before contacting customer service. In many cases, a package is prematurely marked as delivered and it will arrive within 24 hours.

In some cases, packages accidentally get delivered to your neighbor, so we recommend checking in with them about your shipment.

My Order is Damaged, Lost, or Melted

Please message us with your order number using the chat below and we'll make it right. We'll track it down and take care of it for you.

How Do You Package & Ship The Chocolate

We utilize minimal eco-friendly packaging to ship each order. In the warmer months, we add ice and insulation to ensure your chocolate arrives in perfect condition. Our ice packs are 100% biodegradable. It helps if you keep an eye out on delivery days and bring in your package as soon as possible. We reserve the right to hold your order if temperature is above 95F.

We use USPS, Fedex, and UPS for standard shipping for continental US orders. We ship to over 80 countries, and shipping for international orders is calculated at checkout.

Carrier Delays

Bar & Cocoa is not responsible for delays resulting from mishandling by the shipping carrier. We reserve the right to change shipping methods at any time without notice.

What About International Orders?

We love sending chocolate all around the world. Because of the costs associated with shipping internationally, ALL INTERNATIONAL ORDERS ARE FINAL SALE. There will be no refunds for issues due to customs or delays that occur. The buyer should contact the carrier with any delivery issue.

Please review your country's international custom and duties as we are not responsible for the payment of those fees, or any delays due to customs procedures. The club subscription is only available in the United States at this time.

Shipping cost is dynamic and calculated at checkout based on the total weight. No shipping options available? We may not be able to ship to your country due to customs restrictions.

Is The Packaging Recyclable?

We make every effort to use eco-friendly and minimal packaging to ship each order, while protecting bars/products from breaking/melting.

BOX and PAPER LINERS (Sealed Air): These are curbside recyclable.

BIODEGRADABLE ICE: These will biodegrade in landfills and can be thrown in the trash.

ENVIRO ICE: Discard the gel in the sink, it's drain safe and non-toxic. Or use it as plant food. And recycle the #4 plastic bag.

FOIL LINERS: These are not recyclable and go out with the trash.

Where Do I Find Allergen Information?

On each product page, we have helpful icons to tell you about the ingredients/allergens. We also have pictures of the back of all bars so you can inspect ingredients for yourself.

The Diet icons may have one slash in the circle or an X on the circle. One slash indicates traces of, or use of shared equipment (such as traces of tree nuts). An X on the icon means it is completely free of that allergen.

When in doubt, please send us a message before ordering and we'll check the ingredients for you.

How Do You Source Your Products?

The makers we feature source their cacao through direct trade. Therefore, local cacao farmers are paid better and makers can nurture higher standards for premium quality cacao and sustainable agroforestry.

All of the chocolate and confections we carry are free of child or slave labor practices.

How Do I Earn Reward Points?

You are automatically enrolled in our Rewards program when you create an account.

Points will be honored for all orders placed with the same email address — even if they were made before you registered! For more details, visit our Rewards page.

How Do I Work With Bar & Cocoa?

If you're a bean-to-bar chocolate maker and you'd like to be considered for our club or store, we may ask for samples to see if you're a fit. While we're open, please understand that we get many requests, and that sending samples does not guarantee feedback or that we will feature your bars.

Subscription Club FAQ

What Does My Chocolate Subscription Include?

Bar & Cocoa chocolate club includes 4 bars of bean-to-bar chocolate every month. We ship the bars we love (and we hope you do, too!) Your chocolate subscription box will arrive once every month.

How Does Billing Work?

Subscriptions renew automatically, UNLESS specified to be a Gift. You can cancel automatic renewal by logging into your Account.

Subscriptions are re-billed on the same date as your first purchase date every 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on your term.

Can I Swap Between Dark & Classic and the Adventure Boxes?

Yes, you can swap between the two different club boxes at any time. Go to your Account, log in, and click on My Subscriptions. From here, click on the "Edit" button on the subscription line, which will open a window on the right side. Look for a dropdown menu on the bottom, and select a new Type. Then make sure to click the "Update" button to save changes. Once you make these changes, you will also receive an email to confirm that you made a change.

What If My Chocolate Arrived Melted?

Shipments to warmer cities, or anywhere during warm weather months, may include ice packs and insulation to prevent melting. We take precautions to protect your chocolate. We recommend being available on delivery days (you receive an email when your order ships) so you can get it indoors as soon as possible.

Please have your chocolate shipped to a location where it is not left outside in the heat whenever possible. In the unlikely event that you experience issues with your order, please contact us immediately, and we'll make it right.

Can I Change, Skip or Cancel My Subscription?

Your Bar & Cocoa subscription is automatically renewed for your convenience unless you specify it as a gift during checkout.

You can skip a month, change the delivery address, cancel your renewal, or make updates to your subscription at any time by logging in to your Account.

I'm Buying a Gift, How Do I Tell the Recipient?

For club subscriptions, if you select YES for Gift, we will ask for your recipient information so we can alert them about the gift. This allows them to manage their deliveries, shipping address and more. You can also print out this Chocolate Club Gift Certificate to give it to your recipient.

For all orders, you can add a free Gift Note at checkout, which we print on a card and include with the order.

Can You Ship Subscriptions Internationally?

At this time, Club subscriptions are only available in the United States.
