Merida

Merida is a state in Venezuela's western Andes region with ideal climate and soils for cacao cultivation. The region is recognized not for volume, but for its great diversity of very high-quality genetic material. Merida has documented cacao production since the late 1600s and today holds the largest cultivated area and production in southwestern Venezuela, with yields of 566 kg per hectare.
