Collection: GoGround

GoGround is a centralized cacao fermentary based in the Idukki Hills of the south Indian state of Kerala. During the high harvest from November to early February, the small team is driving around a few times a week to collect wet beans from the farmers they work with. Once everything is collected, the team puts it into their fermentation boxes, later drying and sorting the cacao. Commodity buyers have historically bought both dried cocoa and wet beans for their equivalent low prices, but companies like GoGround are working outside of India’s established cacao market. They pay farmers premium prices in cash for high quality cacao, collected directly each week or month, lessening the farmers’ burden of post-harvest processing.
