Collection: Mang Jose Estate

Mang Jose Saguban of Paquibato, Davao City is one of Auro Chocolate’s original farming partners. The founders of Auro Chocolate first met Mang Jose in October 2015, and were impressed by his passion for cacao and leadership in his community. Mang Jose has been growing cacao since the 1970’s and believes in planting cacao that he personally enjoys consuming rather than just blindly following the advice of others. As a result, he has a lot of older varieties of cacao on his farm, including criollo varietals believed to have been brought over by the Spanish colonizers in the 17th century. In late 2019, Mang Jose’s cacao was announced among the world’s top 20 cacao beans by the Cocoa of Excellence Program. Show Less
