Terciopelo Farms

The brand of Terciopelo Farms has been in operation in the southern part of Costa Rica, near the town of San Vito, since March 2007. Owners Keli and James Carouba bought the largest cacao plantation on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, and with the help of local farmers and a world-renowned cacao expert, they’ve been able to expand the plantation with heirloom designated cacao varieties. The farm itself is incredibly beautiful, perched on a hillside and facing south overlooking the mountains. Inside its 100 acres are pastures for cattle grazing, a large area of primary forest, and fifteen acres planted with Costa Rica’s only heirloom-designated cacao.
