This cocoa, whose pods are porcelain-colored, is grown in the Maracaibo region. A chocolate with toasted aromas, then dried fruits complete the vegetable notes, to finish with a flavor of hot chocolate. At the time of the colonies, Porcelana cocoa was called Maracaibo, after the name of the eponymous port from which the beans were shipped. It was renamed Porcelana because of the "porcelain" appearance of its pods.

Cacao region

Zulia

Zulia is Venezuela's westernmost state, home to the historic Maracaibo cacao-growing region and the Sur del Lago area. Around 1800, Venezuela was the world's largest cacao producer, with creole cultivation expanding from Zulia southward. The region contains Lake Maracaibo and major trading ports, combining agricultural significance with historical importance to global chocolate trade.

Porcelana

Porcelana; the name is Spanish for “porcelain,” a reference to the stark white color of the seeds borne in their small, pale green pods. Porcelana is one of the cultivars of the the Criollo group. Porcelana is perhaps one of the best-known ultra-rare cacao varietals, only grown in a small region of Venezuela and Colombia. It’s become one of the most prized and expensive cacaos in the world thanks to its near complete lack of bitterness and delicate chocolaty flavor.
