Maker
BonnatChocolat Bonnat is a French chocolate maker that started in 1884 and has been handed down the family for generations. Made in a traditional style, the single origin chocolate bars here are super rich from added cocoa butter, giving them all an amazing melt mouthfeel. Since the 1980's Bonnat has continued to pioneer the creation of single origin bars. They work with 35 different plantations around the globe to produce bars that showcase each cacao’s unique flavor. Bonnat works closely with each farmer, so he can see first hand each vital step that goes into his fine quality chocolate bars.
Cacao Region
Madre de Dios, PeruMadre de Dios is a department in the southeast of Peru, bordered by Brazil, Bolivia, and three other departments of Peru. The weather is hot & humid year round, with a tropical rainforest climate throughout. With just over 100,000 residents, Madre de Dios is both the least populated Peruvian department and one of the most biodiverse places on earth; its Manu National Park holds the record for number of amphibians and reptiles in one area. Gold mining, however, still represents the largest portion of their income at over 40% of its annual revenue.
I have enjoyed over 100 types of dark chocolate from most all of the highest quality chocolatiers and this bar ranks up there with some of the best. It's an experience I want to enjoy again and again.
Yes, it’s crazy expensive, but I don’t know any other chocolate that gets texture, flavor, intensity and finish this perfect.
I guess, if you name your chocolate “Mother of God,” you really need to keep high standards.
