Luisa Abram is known for venturing into the Brazilian Amazon in search of the region's many native cacao varietals, and then turning those cacaos into amazing single-region chocolates. This 81% dark chocolate bar was crafted from wild cocoa from the Rio Purus region of the Brazilian Amazon. It has distinct notes of warm spices, dried fruit and licorice, with a lingering finish.

Maker
Luisa AbramLuisa Abram is a bean to bar chocolate maker in Brazil. The maker Luisa, works with micro-lots of wild growing cocoa from the Amazon rain forest along the floodplains near riverside communities. Luisa has partnered with the locals to create job opportunities, help preserve native cacao and improve their quality of life. All the bars are made in small batches in Sao Paulo, with only two pure and organic ingredients: cocoa and sugar.
Cacao Region
Acre, BrazilAcre is a state located in the center of the Amazon Rainforest, in northwest of Brazil, bordering both Bolivia and Peru. Intense extractive activity in the rubber industry, which reached its height in the early 20th century, attracted Brazilians from many regions to the state, though it remains one of the least populated. Agriculture beyond the subsistence level is uncommon in Acre; almost all of the cacao harvested in the region comes from wild-growing native varietals collected by local indigenous peoples.
Cacao Strain
PurúsPurús is one of those ten evolutionarily unique types identified in 2008, using samples collected throughout the Americas over the previous century. Samples proven to be of the purús genetic cluster were collected from trees growing wild along the banks of Brazil’s Upper Amazon rivers, including the Rio Purús, after which the cluster is named. Pure examples of purús in modern chocolate express as floral and herbal; but they’re exceedingly rare, as the cacao is almost always wild-harvested from the Brazilian Amazon, the same region as the original samples were collected decades before.
CCharlotteI love this brand more than Jesus. I approve highly of baller lady chocolate makers and the wild cocoa used by Luisa Abram always has the most astonishing flavors. This bar in particular is my favorite as it checks the boxes for all my most beloved notes - woods, greenery, leather, olive, nuts, cream, lightly burned toast. It tastes like a Gentleman's Club. A luxurious one with a solid oak bar and many leather bound books where wealthy men sit around and smoke fine cigars and talk world domination.. That is what my mind conjures up when a piece of this pure seduction is melting on my tongue.
TTheresa S.Love this chocolate bar. It is super tasty and at 81% chocolate, healthy as well. Learned about this chocolate bar at a chocolate tasting at the Princeville Botanical Gardens. The tasting allowed us to taste many different healthy brands and types of chocolate. This was my favorite!
KKung C.C.Fruity, floral, spicy, very rich and smooth; aftertaste sweet
