Collection: Hacienda Limon

Hacienda Limon is located at the foot of the Andes Mountain Range, between endless plantations of cacao and banana. The climate on the farm is tropical & humid year round, with nutrient-rich volcanic soil thanks to the nearby Cotopaxi Volcano. Owner Samuel von Rütte, together with his wife Anita & four other families, run the 110-hectare plantation, which is dominated by strains of pure nacional arriba cacao varietals. In 2014, one of these varietals was awarded a heirloom cacao designation status, ensuring the protection of variety diversity. No insecticides or fungicides are used on the farm, and only very reduced herbicides (spot application) are ever utilized. Show Less
