Chiapas is the southernmost state in Mexico, bordering several Guatemalan states & the Pacific Ocean to the south. The state is generally tropical, but thanks to the convergence of land and sea, it's home to several microclimates, including deep valleys, mountainous cloud forests, and beautiful beaches. Chiapas is also notable for being home to one of the largest indigenous populations in the country, as the ancestral home of several distinct indigeneous Mayan groups, most of whom depend upon agriculture to survive.
