The “Goldsmith of Chocolate” Michel Cluizel bars have wide appeal among chocolate lovers. Michel Cluizel and his family started as a chocolatier, dating back to the late 1940's. He started producing his own chocolate in 1997, creating a single origin and single estate bar from high quality ingredients. While Michel Cluizel is a much bigger enterprise than many of the craft chocolate makers we feature on this site, this classic European chocolate has its roots in pure craftsmanship. The company is now on its third generation of chocolate makers. They have maintained a quality line of single origin chocolate plain and inclusion bars that continue to win awards.

It is boring in the best way possible.

When I first tried this bar, I thought it was bland as far as chocolate goes. There was nothing special about it. But as I continued through the bar over a couple of days, I realized that was its strength. It is dark chocolate; no fancy notes of black tea, tobacco, spices or anything thing else that makes one sound like a sommelier. You know what it is going to be and that is it.

Deep, dark, smooth, and creamy. One if the best. Arrived quickly . Packaging was excessive but it was protected from the heat.

Delicious surprise

I don't know why, but I expected this to be good, but forgettable. Something I would thoroughly enjoy, and would absolutely buy again, but not something I would actively seek out to buy. Good news, I was wrong! A very even yet rich taste. I will certainly go out of my way to buy again!
