Maker
Theo and PhiloTheo Philo is a chocolate maker based in the Philippines. Theo and Philo prides on using local ingredients. It all started from Philo’s love of baking, and desire to use chocolate. He would always scour for special and different types of chocolate. Growing up in the Philippines, he was surprised no one was making bean to bar chocolate, after he first encounter with single estate chocolate. Cacao is grown in the Philippines but it was mostly used to make hot chocolate and exported. That’s when the decided to experiment with local cacao and see what good can come about! Along with their single origin plain bars, they have a collection of flavored bars that are inspired by the local Filipino cuisine. Theo is short for Theobroma Cacao, and Philo is derived from the Greek word which means love. Their goal is to create masterpieces with each bite of their chocolate, which is carefully crafted to capture the bountiful heritage of the Philippines.
Cacao Region
Davao, PhilippinesOne of the smallest big cities in the Philippines, Davao City is affectionately known as both the cacao and durian capital of the country. In fact, often you'll see both fruit trees growing on the same plantations within city limits, yet due to large soil & cacao varietal differences, you'll find that the resulting chocolates taste nothing alike. The region is so widespread that there's even a citywide speed limit that makes a trip from one end to the other take nearly two hours without traffic!
AAnnaThe chocolate flavor didn't stand out, didn't linger, didn't travel up my nose like other chocolates have. No aftertaste. That was disappointing because it smells so fruity! However, the texture combo of the chocolate and the mango make this bar the perfect snack. I kept wanting to take another bite! The mango pieces were the perfect size and I loved that they were integrated in the bar and not just sprinkled on top.
CCarlos A.I wasn't 100% sure to buy chocolate bars online, but finally after doing some research online I decided to give it chance. I'm very surprised about how the product that I bought was packed and delivered. Apart from that the products were simply amazing. A grateful experience. I'm thinking seriously in subscribe.
MMaxene G.I agree with the others - this one is very "snackable." It's a little chewy, calling to mind dried mango, and I love the sour and salt together. However, the seasonings are so strong the chocolate doesn't have a long aftertaste.

KKoko’āinaI love the salty sour of this bar, but the chocolate itself is super smoky. Really, really smoky. I’m not sure if that is intentional? I got a calamansi bar from the same brand and it has no smoke taste.
