Maker

Chocolaterie A. Morin

A Morin Chocolatiers are a 4th generation chocolate maker in Donzère, France. Chocolatiers from father to son since 1994, André Morin founded Chocolaterie A. Morin in 1958 to start making bean to bar chocolate. Since then, they have created artisan chocolate in accordance with chocolate making tradition. They have spent years cultivating relationships with their cocoa producers and farmers to create their line of single origin chocolate bars. They also cultivate over 15,000 acres of fruit and nut orchards to use as raw ingredients such as almonds, hazelnuts and cherries for their pralines, pastes, nougats and jams.

Cacao Region

Zulia, Venezuela

Zulia is the westernmost state in Venezuela, and besides containing one of the largest oil and gas reserves in the Western Hemisphere, Zulia includes the famous cacao-growing region of Maracaibo, which happens to be the state capital. Although Zulia is economically important to Venezuela due to its oil and mineral exploitation, it’s also one of the major agricultural regions of Venezuela, and contains historically-relevant trading ports.

Cacao Strain

Porcelana

Porcelana; the name is Spanish for “porcelain,” a reference to the stark white color of the seeds borne in their small, pale green pods. Porcelana is one of the cultivars of the the Criollo group. Porcelana is perhaps one of the best-known ultra-rare cacao varietals, only grown in a small region of Venezuela and Colombia. It’s become one of the most prized and expensive cacaos in the world thanks to its near complete lack of bitterness and delicate chocolaty flavor.

unique flavor profile

this variety of cacao is known to be unique (im told) and i must say i agree. 100% cacao bars are not for everyone (to say the least) but if you find yourself curious to up your game def consider giving this bar a try as it tastes as if it’s more in the 90% range despite being purely 100% - in other words highly recommend !

One of my favorites!

I like most of the 100% bars I order. The thickness of the bar sets this apart for me. I like the mouthy feel compared to the super thin bars. I usually have some with berries and the thicker bar to me gives me more oomph. Will 100% reorder this one and the other A. Morin thick bar!
