Cacao Region

Apurímac, Peru

Apurímac is a predominantly Quechua-speaking department in the Andean region of south-central Peru. The population of just under half a million residents is primarily rural, depending upon agriculture, the service industry, and a small-but-growing mining industry. Apurimac’s average altitude is quite high, at just over 9000 feet, so the climate is generally temperate; most farmers depend upon native crops, like potatoes, quinoa, and corn.

My go to dark chocolate

I didn't used to like dark chocolate much, primarily a milk chocolate person, but after having this bar and the chocolate tasting with bar and cocoa, I have changed my mind. Dark chocolate can bring out such amazing flavor that is often masked in milk chocolate. This is my go to bar for gifts for those who love dark chocolate or have tried enough milk chocolate and is willing to try something different.

A lovely sweetness but not five stars.

This is an enjoyable bar. It's a bar I would purchase again, but it is not a rich and memorable bar. It's close, but not five stars. That said, it will not waste your time as it is well made and enjoyable.

Boring

Just a simple boring bar. Well made but the flavor was just very basic.

My favorite dark chocolate

I am really a milk chocolate person. Aside from liking a single dark chocolate bar from a lay-over in Switzerland, I don't like dark chocolate. However, I've tried almost every variety of the Chocolarder brand, and I must admit, this is a very tasty dark chocolate option. In fact, I plan on buying extra for those in my life who could use a reminder that they matter this holiday season :-)

Ashaninka Peru 72%

This is such a great bar, has all the sweet and fruity features of Amazonian Cacao. An award winner for good reason.
