Maker

Maraná

Maraná is a Peruvian chocolate company that produces bean to bar chocolate from the finest cocoa. Their selection of Peruvian cocoa comes from three regions - Piura, San Martin, and Cusco. All of their chocolate bars are made with certified 100% organic ingredients. Zulema and Giuseppe, both founders of Marana were formerly part of the corporate world for 10 years until they were looking for something else to satisfy their interests. One day while talking to Giuseppe’s aunt that lives in the USA, she mentioned that she has seen a surplus of chocolate with Peruvian cacao. That had sparked some interest to the pair and started doing research about cacao and visiting cacao farms. That’s when they discovered their passion for Peruvian chocolate. Zulema and Giuseppe are committed to helping farmers receive a better quality of life by working directly with them. They find by teaching them sustainable farming, improving their techniques for better optimization of their cacao beans, they are able to guarantee only the finest cacao beans. Marana’s packaging for their bars pay homage to Peruvian culture and the hard work cacao farmers dedicate their lives towards. Since selling their first chocolate bar in 2015, Marana has proudly received multiple awards for their bars.

Love the plum!

My favorite is the chocolate-covered plum. These chocolates are unique. They're not overly sweet. They're delicious.

Mariana chocolate bon bons

Beautiful wrapping accompanies this single source dark rich chocolate from the Cusco indian region. "From the ‘Chuncho’ cocoa from the Cusco area in Peru (more specifically: Quillabamba) and made into chocolate by Maraná entirely in Peru. 70% cocoa.

Taste description of the maker: “an intense nutty flavor that transports you to the magical land of the Inca." I heartily agree. Rich well blended and balanced "bittersweet" Will purchase again if you choose to carry. Price less than other locations. Appreciated the variety.

Gotta try em all.

Thought I ordered the variety. Got all 6 in Mango. Gave these 4 stars because while I am not fond of mango these do not have a strong mango taste and IMO if its named mango it should taste like mango. I will eat all of them as they are freaking delicious.

Great gift

I ordered this as a gift for a friend. The packaging is beautiful. I didn’t try the chocolate, but my friend told me she loved them. She can be brutally honest, so I know she wasn’t just being polite. Next time, I’ll have to save them for myself!

Not so good

I am fond of chocolate, caramel and nuts. This candy has all three, but the execution isn’t up to snuff. The coating is thin and melted all over everything. The caramel flavor was not bright. Pecans are pecans. There are six pieces in the box. I ate one. I did not offer them to dinner guests, though they are male relatives who will eat anything. A missed opportunity.
