The “Goldsmith of Chocolate” Michel Cluizel bars have wide appeal among chocolate lovers. Michel Cluizel and his family started as a chocolatier, dating back to the late 1940's. He started producing his own chocolate in 1997, creating a single origin and single estate bar from high quality ingredients. While Michel Cluizel is a much bigger enterprise than many of the craft chocolate makers we feature on this site, this classic European chocolate has its roots in pure craftsmanship. The company is now on its third generation of chocolate makers. They have maintained a quality line of single origin chocolate plain and inclusion bars that continue to win awards.

Delicious!

Classic, deep cocoa flavor with a creamy mouthfeel. Like chocolate custard in a bar. Absolutely delicious!

Distinctive

Perhaps it's the hints of licorice that make this an unusual dark bar. I find it interesting and distinctive, though not my favorite combination of flavors.

Not loving it

The bar was well made though it felt a little more like the cheap candy type bars you'd expect from commodity chocolate. I would not recommend.

A delightful surprise.

There is always a great assortment to choose from at Stanley. Each order I select a bar or two just to test it out. For me, eye poppingly good. Try it. You will be happy you did.

Smooth but a bit bland

The look and texture of the chocolate is great. It is very smooth with no bitterness/acidity at all. However, there was not as much depth of flavor for me. Rich and creamy chocolate but not much else.
