Cacao Region
Saint Mark, GrenadaSaint Mark is a parish on the west coast of Grenada, an island nation in the Caribbean. It is the smallest parish in the country, both in area and population, as well as home to the island’s highest mountain and tallest waterfall. With around 4,000 residents— most of whom work in the agriculture sector— Saint Mark has been especially hard-hit by this century’s hurricanes, which tend to hit coastal plantations with extra force.
Cacao Estate
Crayfish BayLocated on the rural northwest corner of Grenada, this 200-year old, 15-acre estate has been lovingly transformed into a fully working commercial organic farm with a small chocolate factory on-site. The estate was badly damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, and has been carefully restored by owners Kim & Lylette to the flourishing plantation it is today. The small island nation of Grenada is known for exclusively growing high quality, fine flavor cacao, and Crayfish Bay is now one of the only estates on the island which exports it (currently exclusively to British chocolate maker Pump Street Chocolate).
