Cacao HuntersCacao Hunters transforms cacao beans from different corners of Colombia into single terroir chocolate bars. They promote and encourage farmers dedicated to producing wild and heirloom cacao varieties, and help them with their farming practices to improve the fine flavor cacao. Cacao Hunters sustainable practices go beyond producing the best Colombian chocolate by preserving rare varieties of cocoa production. Cacao Hunters, among other Colombian makers have helped change the lifestyle and generate a better quality of life for many people including farmers. In the past, Colombia was ridden with coca farms, creating a harsh and dangerous society. The government decided to implement cacao beans to create a better and safer economy, warding away the crime and drugs into the country. The cacao industry has struggled to take off at first because there has not been much attention to the cacao producers and focusing on the quality. Cacao Hunters mission has helped transform the Colombian cacao industry, making it one of the top producers.Cacao Hunters value the indigenous people of the country that help preserve the quality and nature of their hard work that goes into the cacao farming. They are part of an ongoing research to develop new bars while highlighting new flavor profiles from cacao all over the country.
Cacao Region
Arauca, ColombiaWith the exception of the westernmost region, most of Arauca state is comprised of plains, whose soil has shown to be good conditions for growing cacao, banana, cassava, rice, corn, and various other fruits. However, the main economic activity of Arauca is centered around the oil industry, with the state’s Caño Limón oil fields being the second-largest in the country. The name Arauca is believed to derive from the name of the Indigenous Arawak (Arhuaco in Spanish) people, whose descendants still inhabit several regions across Colombia, including much of Arauca state.
JJ.N.Very fruity and delicious. Outstanding, delicious, well made bar.
AA.This one wasn't my favorite. Still, it's interesting, unique, and dynamic. Starts with a punch of strong raisin flavor, perhaps with a tang of balsamic, and then it rounds to a flavor that has more cocoa richness. Bars are VERY thin. Flavor lingers pleasantly in the aftertaste--the edges of my tongue still taste tangy sweetness.
LL.C.Wonderfully rich, with complex fruit flavor notes. Package contains two thin bars. I prefer biting into a thicker bar, but it is delicious.
CCocoa B.A delicious bar with distinct flavor notes and subtle changes throughout the melt. Beautiful work by the wonderful folks at Cacao Hunters!
MMichelleMy experience with Cacao Hunters bars are always top notch. This one is no different. Smelling this bar is an experience all on its own! The aroma is so strong and rich and earthy! When you put the thin bar in your mouth, its immediate dark berry flavor is unmissable. I have not introduced this bar to someone who didn't want more of it! Fantastic, as usual!
