Maker
MomotomboMomotombo is an artisan craft chocolate maker in Managua, Nicaragua founded by Carlos Mann in 2004. Nicaragua is a country known for its rich tropical climate and volcanoes, as well as millennia old cacao culture. Momotombo has a direct relationship with the farms from which they source their cacao, and local ingredients. The chocolate making has evolved from a small family kitchen to a store/shop they opened in 2016. Momotombo has been making "bon bon" chocolates and recently expanded to include a collection of bars.
Cacao Region
Waslala, NicaraguaWaslala is a town and municipality in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. The country’s national revolution during the 1970’s and 80’s affected Waslala tremendously, as it was the location of many guerrilla fights. But these days Waslala and the surrounding areas are more peaceful, covered with vegetation, rivers and streams, and scenic views of the countryside. The fine flavor cacao from this region currently comes from the Ingemann group. It’s produced by a cooperative of about 150 farmers located in the nearby rainforest, which is the largest in Central America, second only to the Amazon Rainforest.
JJ.N.This bar is sweet and easy to eat. Not very complex in flavor but enjoyable nonetheless.
RRozitaI don't like chocolates that don't have any cocoa butter as they are usually harsh!
This one is an exception. It's very round and smooth with taste of tobacco and caramel.LLiam H.J.This bar is seriously great. It’s so smooth without cacao butter and is sweeter than you’d expect. Will definitely be reordering this one.
AAmy H.This chocolate is one of my favorites for its creamy texture and rich but not overwhelming presence. I taste notes of chocolate cake and chocolate mousse. Really unique and lovely.
