Inspired by the mountains and growers around us, this bar is a blend of lavender grown by Lavender Hill Farms in Eden, Utah and dried juniper berries. Both ingredients are finely ground into our Mid Mountain Blend giving a floral, aromatic finish that lingers on the tongue and conjures up the scent of a high mountain meadow.

Ritual ChocolateRitual Chocolate, based in Utah, owned by Robbie Stout and Anna Davies are masters at balancing sugar and cacao. This sophisticated chocolate maker only uses those two ingredients to make their chocolate, with no added soy, butter or vanilla. We appreciate Ritual for their purposeful variations in cacao percentage from harvest to harvest to produce the best tasting chocolate. Ritual is crafted on European methods with an American style. Their journey began back in 2008 in Boulder, Colorado, both cyclists, they noticed that both coffee and cycling companies focused on cyclists. They wondered why and sampled over 20 different cups of coffee with an expert. Robbie was surprised to learn how every cup tastes different due to the roast and where it was grown. From there they learned about terroir and thought well, everyone is doing coffee; why not chocolate! They already ate a little pieces of chocolate every night after dinner, it was their ‘ritual’. Robbie and Anna spent the following years in Costa Rica after taking ownership of an old chocolate factory. They meticulously studied the craft of chocolate, reading every manual on machinery and everything in between. Their attention to detail and dedication has really demonstrated through their award winning chocolate bars.
The floral juniper and lavender notes are interesting but do not overwhelm the chocolate, and they serve to bring out the fruitiness that I find from so many of Ritual's bars. This would be a fun one to have with gin-based cocktails, anything floral or vaguely herbal. I find Ritual's chocolate on-the-whole a bit too "hard" and not melty enough texture-wise, but this flavor combination is unique and appealing. The packaging is also quite artful. Opening a Ritual bar is certainly an experience.
From one of my favorite chocolate makers, this bar does not disappoint. The lavender is just the perfect amount and blends beautifully with the sweet, fruity, citrusy flavor of the chocolate. Looking forward to having it again!
A bit too lavender-y for my taste, but my husband really enjoyed it.

Firstly, I love the delicate yet detailed packaging of this bar. About the taste, it is singular and floral but in a good way. Of course, everything is based on personal preferences. But Ritual delivers a genuine and natural tasting experience with citrudy and floral notes. Very elegant and unique.
