Map of Philippines pointing to Mindanao region

Mindanao

Mindanao is the primary cacao-producing island in the Philippines, accounting for 80 percent of national production, with the Davao Region as the leading contributor. Small-scale farmers cultivate cacao across approximately 5,000 hectares, many of which are processed into tablea, a traditional roasted and ground cacao product. In recent years, Philippine cacao has begun receiving international recognition, with Auro Paquibato cacao earning a Cocoa of Excellence award at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris.
