A 100% dark chocolate from single origin Vietnamese cocoa. In the central high lands of Vietnam in the Dong Nai province, after a long hunt we discovered the exception beans growing in a small valley. As a black diamond is the fruit of a volcano, these beans are the fruit of cacao trees growing on an ascent volcanous soil. The result is a bar with exceptional flavors of red fruit and deep chocolate.

Maker
Belvie ChocolateBased in Vietnam, Belvie Chocolate is a bean to bar maker that handcrafts their chocolate bars with Belgian techniques. They source cacao from all over Vietnam, then stone grind and produce their chocolate in small batches. Their award winning chocolate also contributes to the preservation of cacao trees in Vietnam. They take the husks of the cacao as fertilizer for the trees to help maintain a green environment. Belvie uses Trinitario cacao beans only from local farmers to help restore cacao trees throughout Vietnam and mostly importantly, to help support the farmers.
Cacao Region
Dong Nai, VietnamDong Nai is a province in southeastern Vietnam, located just northeast of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The region is one of Vietnam's main manufacturing centers, home to a range of factories, such as a Toshiba motor plant, a PepsiCo beverage manufacturer, and a Nestlé coffee factory. Despite its success in manufacturing, Dong Nai also has a substantial agricultural sector, mainly consisting of livestock, corn, sugarcane aquaculture seafood, and much much lower in the rankings, cacao. Just prior to Vietnamese colonization, the area was dominated by the Khmer empire, until 1627.
SSimonThis chocolate remind me a nice firm cheese, with a farm kinda of vibe, like hay or something like that.
Very impressive and unexpected, in a good way!
cchristhis is an interesting cacao origin: vietnam. this bar seems to express well the unique characteristics of vietnamese cacao. it's a very worthwhile purchase not only because it is objectively delicious, but because tasting the terroir will really expand your notion of what cacao can taste like. hard to describe, but the notes that come to mind for me are: tonic, lemon balm, & creme fraiche.
SS.S.I REALLY like it. Has nibs! Doesn’t break smoothly.
GGREG S.The 100% dark chocolate is very rich with a smooth finish. Excellent on the palate!
kkatherine s.a little bit creamy almost, not too bitter.
