Based in Vietnam, Belvie Chocolate is a bean to bar maker that handcrafts their chocolate bars with Belgian techniques. They source cacao from all over Vietnam, then stone grind and produce their chocolate in small batches. Their award winning chocolate also contributes to the preservation of cacao trees in Vietnam. They take the husks of the cacao as fertilizer for the trees to help maintain a green environment. Belvie uses Trinitario cacao beans only from local farmers to help restore cacao trees throughout Vietnam and mostly importantly, to help support the farmers.

Ben Tre is a province in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam, where cacao arrived in the late 19th century and thrived as development organizations encouraged planting 15 years ago. Cacao trees grow among coconut groves, benefiting from fertile delta soil and abundant water. The resulting beans have notes of honeysuckle, fig, and citrus.

It transforms a cup of coffee. I just use a small chunk of it every day. It’s expensive but the five bars I bought will last me two months so are a bargain in my book

The fruity and rounded pepper goes well with the spicy Vietnamese origin cacao. Not spicy upfront, some lingering heat. Overall a very well done spicy bar!

Wonderful with a perfect chili finish

I'm not much of a fan of the inclusion of flavors in my dark chocolate. Kudos to Bar and Cocoa for including this one in one of their tasty "surprise me" packages! The chocolate was excellent. The chili hinted its way to the front of the line at the finish. I highly recommend it.

It’s got a kick! Strong chili flavor

I *like* a bit of kick from chili in chocolate, but for me, this bar took the kick too far. Too much chili overpowers any of the chocolate flavor notes coming out. Disappointing because I think that Belvie does a nice job with their single-source bars. This inclusion was a miss for my taste.

Best chocolate ever!

I bought this thinking that it was gonna be super spicy and it would be something interesting to try, little did i know that it was gonna be so well balanced in flavor, texture, basically everything! the "spicyness" its actually a hint at the end after you swallow it, but its main flavor its balanced between fruity and fudgy cacao and absolutely delicious, definitely will buy again
