Moka Origins

Jeff Abella's key motivations are good coffee, ethical chocolate, his family, and empowered communities. Jeff started working in Cameroon, Africa in 2007 and has been focused on humanitarian development initiatives ever since. His passion for social entrepreneurship led him to on humanitarian projects not only in West Africa, but North India and Central Mexico as well.

In 2015, Jeff co-founded an impact-driven cacao and coffee farming project in Cameroon. This spiraled into establishing Moka Origins, a Pennsylvania based craft chocolate and coffee roasting company.

Upala

Upala is a region in northeastern Costa Rica, known as the Chocolate District for over 100 years of Criollo cacao cultivation. The area's volcanic soils and tropical climate create conditions for fine cacao recognized globally. Smallholder farmers use meticulous post-harvest processing, and the resulting chocolate has received numerous international awards.

Finca La Amistad

Finca La Amistad is a 95-hectare biodiversity farm in Costa Rica's northern zone, dedicated to superior Trinitario cacao varieties. The farm operates as a working plantation, lodge, and chocolate operation, partnering with a network of small cacao producers to support around 50 families. Visitors can learn the entire process from cacao cultivation to chocolate making on this farm near the natural attractions of Rio Celeste and Tenorio Volcano.
