Cacao region

Davao

One of the smallest big cities in the Philippines, Davao City is affectionately known as both the cacao and durian capital of the country. In fact, often you'll see both fruit trees growing on the same plantations within city limits, yet due to large soil & cacao varietal differences, you'll find that the resulting chocolates taste nothing alike. The region is so widespread that there's even a citywide speed limit that makes a trip from one end to the other take nearly two hours without traffic!

Davao

Cacao estate

Rehoboth

Rehoboth Estate is located in Calinan, Davao City, Philippines, at 600 feet elevation on the rich volcanic soils of Mount Apo. Established through missionary efforts to teach cacao farming and fermentation, the estate sources wet beans from smallholder farmers through a fermentation facility established in 2015. The team separates cacao harvested from old native trees, prized by chocolate makers for their powerful and distinctive flavors despite smaller pod sizes.
