Baru is a Brazilian nut that tastes more like peanuts but is a seed of a fruit. It is rarely known outside of Brazil and even within Brazil many people have never tasted it. It is foraged by communities who patiently wait for the fruit to fall from the tree before cracking and roasting it. Dark chocolate topped with baru nuts.

Mission ChocolateArcelia Gallardo founded Mission Chocolate in Sao Paulo, Brazil, bringing experience from running a chocolate shop in California and training at Dandelion Chocolate. She has been active in expanding the bean-to-bar movement in Brazil, working directly with farmers on processing. Many of Mission's bars feature locally sourced Brazilian fruits. A good choice for shoppers interested in made-at-origin craft chocolate with a creative, fruit-forward approach.

This bar was fun to eat and nutty as one might expect. Get yourself one if you haven't yet.
Thank you. My family in Hawaii got the chocolates very quickly and were delighted to have these wonderful chocolates!
Whole baru nuts are sparsely sprinkled on the back of this thin, dark bar. They were perfectly roasted and the chocolate is dark and rich, bordering on bitter, only wish the nuts were chopped up and more evenly distributed!
We loved the unique inclusion of Baru nut in this bar. The chocolate had a lovely berry-like flavor, however we wish the chocolate bar itself had been a little thicker. It was kind of on the thin side.
I bought a large batch of Mission Chocolate bars. Bar and Cocoa is one of the few that carries the product. The other merchant wants a $50 flat fee for shipping. B&C shipping was $5 for two days delivery. Great service.
