Iceland’s only bean to bar chocolate maker, OmNom was started by former chef Kjartan Gislason and Óskar Þórðarson . Inspired by the bean to bar movement in the US, Kjartan started experimenting with making chocolate in 2014. At first it was just an experimental concept, until they began receiving positive feedback from the very beginning. OmNom has a small location in Reykjavík, Iceland, and every step of their chocolate making is handcrafted. All OmNom chocolate is crafted from organic cacao beans and Icelandic milk. Each of their ingredients are sourced sustainable locations and are certified organic.The fun brand name was inspired by the sound Cookie Monster makes when munching down on cookies.

Nothing Subtle Here

You better like salt and licorice because it is coming out strong! I'll eat the entire bar, but it will take 4 sessions. If there had been any attempt at subtlety, it probably would be 5 stars.

Amazing if you really really love licorice

If you really, really love intense licorice flavor, this is a delicious treat. If you only slightly like licorice, this is going to be a bit overpowering.

I love this bar! The licorice isn't overpowering, and makes for a salty sweetness. It has notes of caramel.

unique and good, but not what I would regularly crave/want. Lighter chocolate than I expected. Definitely recommend trying if you haven’t had Lakkri (Licorice)chocolate before. Those who taste this, but don’t eat much licorice, often describe the flavor profile of burnt sugar.

"That Licorice One from Iceland" (Said In The Best Way)

None of my friends can ever remember the official name of this chocolate (Omnom Lakkris). But oh, we can all definitely remember the taste of "that licorice one from Iceland" long after it's gone. It's just....wow. Creamy white chocolate with a perfect tang of licorice and perfect amount of salt (perfect for me = not too much). (Somebody who has told me more times than I can count that "white chocolate isn't chocolate"...and who usually refuses any white chocolate.... ate multiple pieces of this and would have eaten more if I'd let him!)
