Makira (also known as San Cristobal) is a small island located east of Guadalcanal and south of Malaita, the two largest islands in the country. The region is perhaps best known for its extensive populations of threatened or endemic bird species, largely based in the tropical rainforest. The landscape is rugged, with steep-sided valleys, many streams and waterfalls, and the most inland swaps of any island in the nation. Most of the farmland is utilized by families to grow subsistence crops and a limited amount of typical cash crops, like cacao and banana.

It was very good chocolate, but compared to the other Firetree bar I tried (Vanuatu), it was not as good.

Vanuatu - Perfect Chocolate

I want to buy several of that large bars of this one. It was really buttery and smooth, with lots of fruity, tangy and sweet notes. Very rich and delicious!

Perfect size!

Love these mini bars, they are the perfect size and each bar can break into four pieces. Great for tasting to see the differences between regions; we love the Mindanao Island- it really did have honey and citrus notes!

Delicious bars and a terrific way to try several to see what you like best!

Fire tree bars are some of my favorites and these mini bars are a wonderful way to sample a selection of them to determine what ones to order in the larger size. Personally, I have liked every single Firetree bar I’ve tried. I tend to like in the range of 65-80% and berry or citrus notes. I really enjoyed having 5 different bars and tasting them in comparison to each other. All high quality and so sooo good!

I highly recommend getting the mini bars from Firetree. While I didn't love every bar, experimenting with the mini-bars helped me explore the flavors of the South East Asia and discover ones that I really loved. There were a few that I have gone on to buy the big bars because I enjoyed the flavors. I found these mini-bars had more heft than average. Some of the others are very thin, not these! Mindinao Islands is my fav, but I also liked Solomon Islands like the other reviewer.

A good chocolate despite not being my typical flavor profile. It tastes very dark without being bitter. I definitely taste the brownie and blackberry notes, but don’t get the butterscotch (or anything else on the sweeter side). This bar has a dry-ness to it and I’d also use the word alkaline as part of the experience. Good quality bar with great texture and snap.

Smooth and delicious

Firetree's tasting notes were spot on, the packaging is gorgeous, the chocolate is smooth with gorgeous honey notes coming through. The mini bar is the perfect size.
